These are complete medical eye exams analyzing:
These examinations will also determine if you are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism or need bifocals. The staff at River Valley Optical can fit you for glasses or contact lenses and also determine if you are a good candidate for refractive surgery. Contact our clinic today to schedule your next exam!
At River Valley Eye Professionals, we treat all varieties of eye disease and injury including pink eye, foreign bodies (something in the eye that’s not supposed to be there!), scratched corneas or trauma. Unfortunately, many eye problems don’t happen during regular business hours. That’s why our office provides urgent care services for eye infections, eye injuries and other eye urgencies. You can call our office anytime day or night to talk with one of our doctors-on-call.
No-Cost InfantSee® Comprehensive Screenings
(for infants 6-12 months old)
This is part of a nationwide program to detect eye and vision problems at a very early age. Found early, many eye and vision problems can be corrected. Our testing is completely objective, which means we can collect all the information we need without asking any questions.
We can determine if your child is nearsighted, farsighted, or has astigmatism. We will also look for congenital issues such as cataracts, glaucoma, or retinal defects.
We will see children at any age, including newborns. The reason we prefer to wait until children are six months old is due to the increased development of the “hardware and software” of the eye. Once children reach this age, eyes will begin to work as a team and vision improve considerably. However, if you feel there is any abnormality with your child’s eyes at any time, call for an appointment. Also, call if you think your child has pink eye. There are many causes of pink eye and we can determine the cause and proper treatment.
We participate in the InfantSEE program https://infantsee.org/ which advocates for early vision screening of 6-12 month-old infants at no cost to the parents.
Michelle Muench, MD, sees patients in our clinic and performs surgery at Northfield Hospital. She specializes in cataract and eyelid surgery.
After a thorough evaluation, we will determine if you are a good candidate for refractive surgery. We can then arrange for a consultation with the refractive surgeon.
This is the “vision” part of the comprehensive examination to determine if you are nearsighted, farsighted, have astigmatism, or need bifocals. We can fit you for glasses or contact lenses or update your current prescription.
This is also where we look for the need for a prism to correct for eye alignment, extra magnification for reading or hand work, and tints for people more sensitive to light.
